Teaching Responsibilities

Head of Colleges, Denali College, Univ. of Washington School of Medicine, Aug 2015-Present.

The primary goal of the colleges are to oversee a four-year integrated curriculum of clinical skills and professionalism, and provide students with consistent faculty mentoring. Through the program, the college mentors teach proficiency in basic clinical skills of physical examination and diagnosis, and clinical reasoning with a patient-centered approach. Each Alaska student is assigned to a specific college mentor that will stay with them through their four years of medical education. The mentor groups meet regularly and participate in direct bedside teaching in the hospitals around Anchorage. I serve as a direct student mentor while also supervising the other physician mentors. I also frequently participate in the classroom teaching for the Foundations of Medicine Course and patient care simulations in the UAA Simulation Lab.
