UAA Campus Closure Due to Earthquake
4:05 p.m. - Tuesday: Chancellor Sandeen video update
We are pleased to report the UAA Anchorage campus will open on Wednesday, Dec. 5, following last Friday's earthquake. The Chugiak-Eagle River Campus will remain closed, but classes will resume in alternative locations. Students should check UAOnline for their new meeting location. As you return to campus, we encourage you to check the Earthquake Recovery web page for important safety tips and resources about how to submit work requests to facilities for repairs. 2:32 p.m. - Monday: Chancellor Sandeen video update
The Anchorage campus, including the Aviation Technology Complex, will open on Wednesday, Dec. 5. PLEASE NOTE: Chugiak-Eagle River Campus will remain closed on Wednesday, Dec. 5, but classes will resume in alternative spaces. We will keep you updated on where those spaces will be.
10:49 a.m. - We have received some inquries from students at our community campuses about closures. Mat-Su, KPC, Kodiak and PWSC, are all open Monday and Tuesday. Please check their websites for more information.

3:21 p.m. - UAA and the Chugiak-Eagle River Campus will be closed Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 3-4, as our facilities team continues its cleanup and restoration efforts. Buildings remain inaccessible at this time. All further updates will be delivered via our website at uaa.alaska.edu/emergency and our Facebook and Twitter accounts. Closures at our community campuses may differ from Anchorage.

8:43 p.m. - Our facilities team has been hard at work today assessing damage to buildings and will continue their efforts this weekend with building cleanup. All buildings remain closed at this time and are not accessible until further notice. We will continue to update you on the status of campus over the weekend. 3:55 p.m. - The campus will be closed through Sunday, Dec. 2 due to today’s earthquake. As we continue to assess the damage to our buildings and begin the repair process, our buildings are closed and not accessible until further notice. We will provide additional updates later today and periodically over the weekend.

UAA emergency preparedness is coordinated by the Incident Management Team (IMT), a diverse skilled group of employees tasked to prepare for emergencies on or near the Anchorage campus. The IMT provides immediate comprehensive response to situations that may adversely affect the safety of the UAA community. The IMT serves as advisors to the chancellor and the chancellor’s cabinet.
