Spring 2007: Business taxes

The UAA Small Business Development Center presents "Employer Payroll Taxes" on Tuesday, January 9th at the Department of Labor (3301 Eagle Street, Room 104A). This seminar runs from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and is conducted in partnership with the Department of Labor to assist small business employers in understanding their employment tax responsibilities.  Emphasis is placed on properly preparing employer tax forms and federal tax deposits.  There is no fee. The UAA Small Business Development Center presents "Small Business Owner Tax Return" Wednesday, January 10th from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the SBDC (430 W. 7th Ave., Training Room) This class is designed to help the sole proprietor business owner learn more about tax law for small business. Topics discussed include expenses allowed on the Schedule C, profit and loss statements, reporting methods for social security tax purposes and the requirements for filing estimated tax payments during the year.  There is a $5 participation fee. The UAA Small Business Development Center presents "Quickbooks" Friday, January 12th from Noon to 5 p.m. at the University Center Room 149 (3901 Old Seward Hwy.) This hands on beginner class gives an overview of basic set-up to the new user including invoicing, account receivables and account payables. Participants will learn to use the necessary accounting tools and be able to set-up their own working accounting system.  Working knowledge of basic Windows skills is required. There is a $65 participation fee. To pre-register call 274-7232.
