Hajo Eicken on International Polar Year

by Kathleen McCoy  |

Presented on Jan 29, 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at UAA Campus Bookstore
Dr. Hajo Eicken is an Associate Professor at the Geophysical Institute of UAF, where he specializes in the field of sea ice geophysics. His research includes studies of the growth, evolution and properties of sea ice in the Arctic and Antarctic. He is particularly interested in determining how microscopic and macroscopic properties affect large scale sea ice processes and their role in the climate system. At this discussion, Hajo Eicken will focus on the importance of 2007 being the International Polar Year. This is an opportunity to learn about cutting edge research that advances our understanding of climate change in Alaska.
