CursiveThe University of Alaska Anchorages (UAA) student radio station, KRUA 88.1 FM The Edge, and the UAA Concert Board are proud to present KRUAs 15th Anniversary Party featuring indie-rock sensation, Cursive. Cursive will perform at the Wendy Williamson Auditorium on Saturday, Feb. 17 at 7:30 p.m.

To celebrate KRUA's 15 years of achievement, KRUA and the UAA Concert Board are bringing one of the hottest indie-rock bands in the United States, Cursive, to Alaska. The band's Web site, www.cursivearmy.com, describes the band as "never repetitive, always ambitious and rarely settling."

Cursive's newest album, "Happy Hollow," was released in August 2006. The band is described on its Web site as "...still informed by a sharp lyrical pathos and a wise, road-tested sense of dynamic interplay. The songs groove and dart with brash swagger, laced with hints of gospel and skewed blues. The rhythm section, heavier, tighter and more propulsive than ever, drives the songs forward while horns careen over dueling vocals and interweaving guitars. The album's first single, "Dorothy at Forty," is another typically atypical Cursive romp, catapulted by incisive guitars, punctuated by horns and jerking to a stop before mightily spiraling away into the song's rousing coda."

Their latest album showcases the band at the top of their game, and KRUA's 15th Anniversary finds the station entering another exciting year of radio as one of the best radio stations in town.

Since KRUA's beginning in 1992, KRUA has worked to be on the musical cutting edge, often playing artists before any station in town. UAA's student-run station prides itself on its sonic diversity, and proudly showcases it daily. In 2006, the readers of the Anchorage Press voted KRUA as Anchorage's Best Radio Station.
