Starting a business

The UAA Small Business Development Center will be teaching Starting a Business on Feb. 20 at UC 120 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. This class will cover the essentials in small business start up including information access, legal aspects, business insurance, bookkeeping, marketing and finance options. Meet and learn from community professionals who willingly share their knowledge in this first step toward business success. Call 274.7232 to register; there is a $45 fee.

The UAA Small Business Development Center will be teaching Developing a Business Plan on Feb. 21 at the Small Business Development Center (430. W. 7th Ave.). The class runs from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and will cover the basic steps involved in producing a good business plan, including researching business ideas, analyzing the profitability of small business, introduction to the necessary financial statements and considerations of loan requirements. The UAA Small Business Development Center presents Marketing on a Shoestring on Feb. 22 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Small Business Development Center. You need to get the word out but your marketing budget it slim. This seminar will give you tips and ideas for cost effective marketing ideas that pack a big punch: mass media, direct mail, public service announcements, great brochures, all these and more in this seminar. To register call 274.7232 there is a $25 fee.
