Clinic prepares for new equipment, more lab and classroom space

The dental clinic at the University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) is preparing for a remodel that will take place throughout the summer.  The project, costing $3.5 million, will be complete by the fall semester.  The current clinic, located in the Allied Health Sciences Building, was built in the early 1980's and is in need of new equipment and additional space.

The expanded clinic will increase from 16 to 21 dental operatories, a lab, a large classroom and faculty offices.  The dental clinic plans to provide their old dental chairs to the Anchorage Neighborhood Health Center and other non-profit organizations in Alaska and other countries where the old chairs will be welcomed.  The remodel will affect students in the Community and Technical College's dental hygiene and dental assisting programs.
