Bad money

University Police report that vendors and retailers working on campus should be alert to a new wave of counterfeit one hundred dollar bills being circulated. Before accepting a $100, hold it up to the light and look for the security bar embedded vertically through the left third of the bill's face. Another option is to use a security felt tip pen to test the bill's paper. Pens are available at most office supply stores in Anchorage. Holders of counterfeit bills can lose the bill to Secret Service forfeiture. Retailers receiving such a bill as payment should contact police.
