Oct. 2007 - ISER Lunchtime Talk

by Kathleen McCoy  |

ISER invites you to attend a lunchtime talk today from noon to 1:30 p.m. in the ISER conference room on the fifth floor of the Diplomacy Building. The topic is "Making Alaska Healthier: Early Life Strategies," by Stephen Bezruchka, Senior Lecturer, International Health Program, School of Public Health and Community Medicine at the University of Washington.

Research tells us that how healthy we are as adults depends a lot on how healthy we were in the first part of our lives, from conception through age four or five. Countries where people are healthier than Americans have policies in place or support for family values that promote good health, without paying as much attention to individual behaviors as we do. What can we learn from other countries that could help Alaskans be healthier? Join us at ISER to hear Dr. Bezruchka review the research and talk about steps for action.
