Commuter students' challenges are topic of Web conference

Undergraduate students who interact with faculty, staff and other students in meaningful ways are more likely to succeed because they are involved in learning inside and outside the classroom and develop close connections to the campus community. But commuter students are at a disadvantage due to their natural ties outside the campus. To explore these challenges, to review best practices for helping commuters succeed, and to examine intervention strategies that might have the strongest impact on student success, the Division of Student Development is hosting a web conference, "Building Community with Off-Campus Students," on Wednesday, Nov. 14, 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in the Lyla Richards Conference Room at Student Union. Those interested in attending should RSVP to the Dean of Students Office, 786-1214, or email ankh@uaa.alaska.edu.
