Scholarships offer spring semester in nation's capital; deadline Wednesday

Three full scholarships are available to Alaska students for participation in Spring 2008 semester-long academic internships in Washington, D.C. for credit. The 15-week internships match the students' academic, personal and professional interests. Additional components let students interact with key government, private sector and nonprofit leaders; build their professional skills through workshops, seminars, and networking events; develop a sense of community commitment and civic engagement; and link classroom knowledge with first-hand work experience through the academic course. BP is sponsoring the scholarships, which come through the Washington Center and cover program fee, housing, roundtrip air travel and living expense allowance. Three full scholarships are available for students from Alaska for Spring 2008.  Application deadline is Wednesday, Nov. 14.
