Alumni show strong support of UAA
by Kathleen McCoy |
Beginning in July 2006 the University of Alaska Anchorage posed an ongoing challenge to its alumni: Make a difference for your alma mater. With the help of the Rasmuson Foundation, alumni of UAA were challenged to make a philanthropic gift for the very first time as part of the Rasmuson Challenge to Alumni. Any new alumni gift or pledge of $1,000 to the University was matched by the Foundation, doubling its impact.
The Rasmuson Foundation, dedicated to improving the quality of life for all Alaskans, generously awarded UAA a $100,000 challenge grant to support increased alumni giving. The Rasmuson Challenge to Alumni officially ended on December 31, 2007, meeting 100 percent of the $100,000 dollar-for-dollar match of eligible gifts. The net result was $200,000 of impact from the generosity of UAA alums.
