by Kathleen McCoy  |

Learn about the Bachelor of Liberal Studies program and hear presentations on sustainable housing and the history of boarding schools in Alaska on Monday, March 3, 6-7 p.m. in SSB 224. An open discussion of culturally responsive teaching techniques follows from 7:15-8:15 p.m.

BLS capstone student and sustainable living advocate, Steve Reidel, will discuss elements of sustainable building in Alaska and speak about a proposed sustainable eight unit apartment complex in Spenard.

"Conflicting Values: the political, social, and religious climate that led to the institution of boarding schools for native students in Alaska" is the subject of Trey Drake's Capstone project. Drake's presentation focuses on the historical context that led to the establishment of boarding schools for Alaska Native students.
