Last day of open enrollment for faculty and staff benefits

by Kathleen McCoy  |

The open enrollment period for benefit elections and changes for university employees runs from April 15 through May 16, 2008. Now is the time to update, change, make additions or deletions, or otherwise review your University benefits options and plans.

If you do not elect to make any changes, your most recent benefit elections of record will continue and carry over, except your Flexible Spending Account which is required to be actively elected each year. If in the most recent past year you have personally opted out of University Health Insurance coverage, that opt out will continue unless you initiate coverage during this Open Enrollement. So unlike previous years, this year you do not need to file new certification of other coverage. However, if you do not have or will not have coverage for the upcoming benefit year, and you are eligible for health insurance, you must notify the University and elect coverage to begin July 1, 2008. Otherwise you and your dependants may risk being uninsured.

There are changes to all the benefit plans and rates this year. Even if you don't think you need to make any changes, it is a good idea to review the benefit plans and rates so you are familiar with your benefits for the upcoming year.
