23rd Annual Bear Paw Festival parade
by Kathleen McCoy |
The Chugiak-Eagle River Campus is participating in the 23rd Annual Bear Paw Festival
Parade in Eagle River on July 12. The festival theme this year is "Barnum and Bear-ly
Under the Big Top!" Show up and march in the 11 a.m. parade wearing your green and
gold and dressed like a circus performer! The parade lasts just over an hour and is
a great community event. If you are interested in walking with the UAA crowd or helping
with the UAA booth, please contact Wendy Gorski at the Chugiak-Eagle River Campus
office at (907) 694-3313 or anws@uaa.alaska.edu. Parade participants need to be in
place no later than 9:45 a.m. at the staging area of Eagle River Elementary School.
Be sure to park at the UAA Chugiak-Eagle River Campus, in front of or behind the Eagle
Center. Come one, come all!
The Chugiak-Eagle River Campus is also helping with a new Bear Paw event on July 11--Chalk-a-palooza. Chalk-a-palooza is a sidewalk chalk art fundraiser for a local Eagle River boy awaiting a heart transplant. If you have any artistic inclination, we need volunteer artists to draw a picture of their choice on a square of sidewalk that has been "purchased" by a local business. We provide the chalk pastels! Please contact Wendy Gorski at the Chugiak-Eagle River Campus office at (907) 694-3313 or anws@uaa.alaska.edu if you would like to participate.
