birdDr. Hiroyoshi Higuchi, Laboratory of Biodiversity Science at University of Tokyo, will present "Migration and Conservation of Birds in East Asia" at 2 p.m. today at the U.S. Geological Survey Alaska Science Center located on the Alaska Pacific University campus in the Glenn Olds Hall Conference Room at 4210 University Drive in Anchorage. This lecture is sponsored by the UAA Biology Department.

Dr. Higuchi, one of Japan's premier ornithologists, conducts collaborative research, along with the U.S. Geological Survey and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, on the movement of avian influenza viruses between Asia and North America by migratory birds. He will discuss satellite telemetry studies of water bird migration in Asia. There will be an opportunity to meet Dr. Higuchi over refreshments after the seminar.

To get to Glenn Olds Hall from Providence Drive, turn right into the parking lot at Grace Hall (look for the USGS maps sign). Glenn Olds Hall is across the parking lot from the entry. The conference room is on the main floor of the building to the right of the front doors.
