Bobby Sturgell, acting administrator of the Federal Aviation Administration, will
be on the UAA campus this afternoon to visit the Aviation Technology Division and
discuss the new safety technology known as ADS-B (Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast),
which is being developed as an alternative to ground-based radar. Last week, the Division
was visited by National Transportation Safety Board administrator Mark Rosenker.
The ADS-B technology, which is expected to provide increased safety to commercial aviation, was developed initially under the Capstone program at UAA's Aviation Technology Division.
Sturgell will be on campus on Thursday, August 14 from 1-4 p.m. Read the full story here.
