Student Meet and Greet with Neil deGrasse Tyson

Neil deGrasse Tyson The University Honors College would like to invite students to a Student Meet and Greet with world-renowned astrophysicist Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson on Saturday, August 23 from 11 a.m. to noon in Rasmuson Hall, room 111. Dr. Tyson will be available to meet and mingle with students before his keynote address at the Freshman Convocation event later the same afternoon.

Neil deGrasse Tyson is the director of the Hayden Planetarium at the American Museum of Natural History in New York City. He has written seven popular books, including Death by Black Hole, which was a New York Times bestseller. He also stars in the PBS series Nova Science Now. Time Magazine listed him as one of the top 100 men and women whose talent and moral example is transforming the world.

Travis Rector, a professor in UAA's Physics and Astronomy Department, will introduce Dr. Tyson. Light snacks and refreshments will be served.
