Vice Provost for Health Programs announced

Jan Harris accepted the Vice Provost for Health Programs position in the Office of Academic Affairs, effective immediately. Jan holds a Master of Science in Health Administration and brings over 40 years experience in the health care industry that is well suited for the charges of the Vice Provost position. She has been employed with UAA since 2001, initially responsible for facilitating the Nursing Enrollment Expansion Project, later holding the position of Director of Health Workforce Development and most recently working as Associate Dean of the College of Health and Social Welfare.

In Jan's new capacity as Vice Provost, she will work extensively with the Associate Vice President for Health Programs and other health program leaders from across the UA system to enhance the University of Alaska's ability to meet Alaska's needs for health education.

UAA is the lead UA institution for health care and health sciences education. In alignment with UAA 2017, Jan will serve as liaison to industry, governmental, and community entities and collaborate closely with public and private sector partners to maintain and develop our programs supporting workforce development and high-demand careers.

Jan's role as Vice Provost for Health Programs is a key leadership role that is instrumental to strengthening health programs system wide, while in pursuit of meeting Alaska's health care and health sciences needs.
