Idle cars

by Kathleen McCoy  |

Please do not leave your vehicle idling to defrost unless you have a remote start system. Under Alaska regulations, a person in charge of a vehicle that has been left idling with a key in the ignition can be cited for Unattended Motor Vehicle. The offense carries a $50 fine, plus a $10 surcharge. Complying with this code will help reduce car theft and any liability for situations such as a minor or intoxicated person driving the vehicle away and causing damage or injury.
