Academic and Multicultural Student Services invites the University community to a reception for Helen Trainor, who is retiring as director of TRiO where she served since 1998.

TRiO targets individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds with first-generation college potential. The program includes Upward Bound, which serves students in grades 9-12; Educational Talent Search, which serves those in grades 6-12 from the Anchorage School District; and the Educational Opportunity Center, which serves adults.

Helen has served as faculty for the Council for Education (COE) and a leader with Northwest Association of Special Programs (NASP). She has successfully secured external funding through the U.S. Department of Education.
