800 attend UAA's live telecast of Inauguration

An estimated 800 people filled the concave arena of the Wendy Williamson Auditorium this morning to witness the live, big-screen telecast of the inauguration of Barack Obama as the 44th President of the United States of America in Washington D.C. In honor of this historic event, the University of Alaska Anchorage featured the telecast and invited the public on campus to witness it.

After the D.C. events, UAA Chancellor Fran Ulmer addressed the crowd, urging the UAA community to consider 2009 a year of service in response to the president's call for help. Next, the Chancellor introduce the Rev. Alonzo Patterson who offered a prayer of thanks for the events of this day.
