Keeping tabs on the legislative session

To University of Alaska faculty, staff, students, alumni and friends:

The legislative session began on Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2009. To help keep you informed about how the university is doing in Juneau this year, the UA System Office will once again provide regular updates and information via the UA advocacy Web site.

There, you will find a link to sign up for e-mail updates via the SupportUA Listserve, or you can sign up directly by finding the Support UA Listserve here.

The UA advocacy Web site also contains UA briefing sheets (with printable versions), budget request summaries, a schedule of upcoming committee hearings, links to other relevant sites like the Alaska Legislature and Governor, and more. Printable versions of UAA's briefing sheets are available at the Chancellor's Web site under Legislative Advocacy 2009.

Please share this information with campus committees, advisory groups and others who would like to remain informed about issues affecting the university system throughout the 90-day session.

If you have specific questions, please contact UA's Director of State Relations, Pete Kelly, at (907) 463-3086 (session number) or Kate Ripley, UA Public Affairs Director, at (907) 450-8102, or Maggie Grega in the UAA Chancellor's office at (907) 786-1437. Thank you.
