UAA/APU Consortium Library, Room 307

Faculty are invited to attend a faculty workshop entitled: "Tell Me Again Why You Need to Be Gone?" offering perspectives on responding to student absences due to religious and cultural practices. This is a Difficult Dialogues event.

The workshop will be held today from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. in the UAA/APU Consortium Library, Room 307. It will provide an opportunity for faculty to stop and think about the values-guiding dialogues with students regarding conflicts between class attendance and religious or cultural obligations.

Presenters include Bruce Schultz, UAA Dean of Students; Nancy Furlow, interim director, UAA Alaska Native Studies; Marva Watson, director, UAA Diversity and Compliance; and Dr. Gina Boisclair, APU Professor of Religious Studies. Light refreshments will be served.

The event is co-sponsored by CAFE, the UAA/APU Engaging Controversy Project, and the College of Health and Social Welfare Diversity Committee. For more information, please contact afalr@uaa.alaska.edu or aner@uaa.alaska.edu.
