TONIGHT: Adjunct faculty member to read his poetry

by Kathleen McCoy  |

Tonight, March 25, 7 p.m.
Out North

John McKay, an adjunct faculty member of the UAA Dept. of Journalism and Public Communications and a student in the M.F.A. program in the Department of Creative Writing and Literary Arts, will read his original poetry at the Poetry Parley at Out North this evening at 7 p.m.

Poetry Parley is a monthly event that features an Alaska poet reading his or her own works, followed by members of the community reading the writings of a (usually) famous poet.

On Wednesday, after McKay finishes reciting his poems, a group of readers will deliver poems from the body of works by the Irish poet William Butler Yeats. The readers include two other members of the UAA community, biology professor Doug Causey and University Advancement staff writer Peter Porco.

Professor Causey will recite his own poems during April's Poetry Parley at Out North.

Poetry Parley begins at 7 p.m. and is free. For more information about the event or to sign up to read at some future Parley, call Jon Minton in Anchorage at 727-3234.
