2009 Bike to Work Day
by Kathleen McCoy |
The Cycling Seawolves team now numbers 82 and there are at least three other teams from Institute of Social and Economic Research (ISER), Cyclists for Human Development and General Support Services (GSS). We have 100 bicyclists signed up and it is not too late for you to sign up. Cyclists can even decide this morning to cycle in and then contact Paula Williams, sustainability director, at (907) 786-1515 or anpw@uaa.alaska.edu to be counted in the grand tally.
Reminder: All teams, please come to the entrance to Rasmuson Hall closest to the Cuddy Center at noon today, May 15, for a group photograph. We can get this up on a Web page and it will be an inspiration to increase the number of people who bike to work on Bike to Work Day and on every other day! For those bicycling to the University Center, we are trying to arrange a separate photograph for you and I will get that information out to you as soon as possible.
Reminder: For those of you who ordered lunch from Kids' Lunchbox, please do not forget to pick up your lunches on May 15.
Most important: After you bike in, please take the survey posted at the Municipality's Bike to Work Web page to be entered in a drawing for some very nice prizes.
For Twitter users, you can follow BiketoWorkANC (www.twitter.com/BiketoWorkANC) for updates on trail conditions and the size of teams that various organizations are signing up for the day.
This is a wonderful opportunity to improve your health by biking in on May 15 and to charitably contribute by ordering lunch through this wonderful program. How can you possibly beat that?
