UAA emergency manager completes national emergency training in Maryland

Ron Swartz, Emergency Manager for the UAA campuses, graduated from training at the National Emergency Training Center in Emmitsburg, Maryland on Thursday, April 23. The U.S. Department of Homeland Security course, "Discussion-based Exercise Design and Evaluation," taught attendees how to create, execute and review tabletop disaster exercises. There were about 55 emergency preparedness professionals from across the country in the class. Presented as part of the Emergency Management Institute, the course was one of three Swartz will complete as part of certification as a Master Exercise Practitioner.
