Fall 2009: Accreditation team holds staff forum
by Kathleen McCoy |
Today, Oct. 1-Friday, Oct. 2
UAA Campus
The University of Alaska Anchorage is in the process of reaffirming our institutional accreditation with the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU). All accredited institutions must engage in this ongoing process of self review and reporting to the commission on a regular seven year cycle. Reaffirmation of accreditation is based on the institution demonstrating that it is achieving its stated mission.
An evaluation team will be on campus from September 30th through October 2nd to assess how UAA applies its resources and capacities toward mission fulfillment, as outlined in the self review report UAA submitted on September 1. While on campus, the team will meet with campus leadership, and will hold separate open forums with faculty, staff and students.
Open Forum Details:
- Staff Forum: Today, Oct. 1 from 12:15-1:00, Administration/Humanities Room 204
A call in site for each community campus has been identified; please contact accreditation@uaa.alaska.edu for more information about how to join one of these sites.
An ASL interpreter will be provided at the Anchorage location for the student forum.
To help evaluate the extent to which we are achieving our mission, NWCCU requires institutions to select several core themes, representing different facets of the mission. The Chancellor's Cabinet, in consultation with the Accreditation Steering Committee, aligned the core themes with the five UAA 2017 Strategic Plan priorities:
- Teaching and Learning
- Research, Scholarship, and Creative Activity
- Student Success
- UAA Community
- Public Square
