China's Peking Opera at UAA on Nov. 3

The UAA Confucius Institute, in celebration of the 60th anniversary of the People's Republic of China, is pleased to bring to Alaska for the first time, the famous spectacle of China's Peking Opera. With its dynamic blend of martial arts, traditional dance, music, song and colorful costumes, the Peking Opera is an exciting experience sure to entertain the entire family. The Performance Troupe is from China's prestigious National Academy of Chinese Theatre Arts. Its nationwide tour includes stops in New York, Washington, D.C., St. Louis and Minneapolis. The group will perform highlights from several famous Chinese Operas, representing stories of action, romance and adventure, including Autumn River, At the Crossroad, Picking Up the Jade Bracelet and The Reed Jungle.
