The Anchorage School District and Municipal officials, along with Mayor Dan Sullivan today outlined Anchorage's plan for H1N1 flu response and vaccine distribution.
Many factors were addressed in the planning of the Municipality's pandemic flu response, including: preparing for a medical surge, coordinating the distribution of antiviral medication, informing Anchorage residents how to avoid the flu, addressing the needs of vulnerable populations, and vaccinating the general public.

Anchorage residents will be able to access H1N1 vaccine in three fashions:

  • Through their private healthcare provider or local pharmacy
  • Through one of many free public H1N1 vaccination clinics, open to the general public, occurring in November and December
  • The Anchorage School District is holding vaccine clinics for students at each school

The Municipality has created a flu hotline at 343-2525. The hotline will relay up-to-date information on H1N1 vaccine clinic dates, as well as general information about the flu and flu symptoms. You can also visit the H1N1 Web page linked to the Health and Human Service Web page for more information.
