Last weekend for Terra Nova

Two related podcasts are now available: listen to a conversation with director Tom Skore, and a recording of the Oct. 18 climate change panel that featured four UAA faculty members.

Through Oct. 25
Fridays and Saturdays, 8 p.m.
Sunday matinees, 3 p.m.
UAA Mainstage Theatre, Fine Arts 220

The UAA Department of Theatre and Dance is pleased to present Terra Nova, directed by UAA Theatre Professor Tom Skore. The play is presented in conjunction with the College of Arts and Sciences and UAA's Geology Department as a tribute to the sciences and as a dedication to UAA's new ConocoPhillips Integrated Science Building with its grand opening today, Oct. 23. Included in the production was a symposium on Oct. 18 with panelists Dr. Lillian Alessa, Dr. Birgit Hagedorn, and Dr. Jeff Welker and moderated by Dr. Kerry Feldman.

Sir Robert Falcon Scott's attempt to beat Norwegian explorer Roald Amundsen to the South Pole in 1912 was doomed for many reasons: his refusal to use sled dogs, horribly cold summer weather, pride, arrogance and bad luck. This potent theatrical hallucination of Scott's final moments is a moving and thoughtful look at the price of discovery paid by all true explorers and the people who love them.
