Personnel announcement: Ron Kamahele

by Kathleen McCoy  |

I am pleased to announce that Ron Kamahele has accepted the position of Director of Human Resource Services (HRS) at UAA. Ron has been serving as the interim director of HRS since Jim Mullen's retirement in May.

Ron joined UAA's staff as a Human Resource Services Consultant in 2000. In addition to his full-time position in HRS, Ron has been teaching courses as an adjunct instructor in the College of Business and Public Policy. Prior to coming to UAA, Ron served nine years in the U.S. Air Force, earning the rank of Captain.

As a professional in human resources, Ron has been involved in a variety of projects, including health care plan restructuring, classification system redesign, paperless recruitment system implementation and organizational development. As a staff trainer, he's conducted employee training on a range of topics including basic supervisory training, timekeeping, job analysis and ethics.

Ron earned his B.A. degree in psychology at Linfield College in Oregon and his M.S. degree in human resources management at Chapman University in California. Ron is also certified by the Society of Human Resource Management as a Senior Professional in Human Resources.

Ron's two children are also members of the UAA community; his son is currently enrolled at UAA and his daughter is a UA Scholar planning to attend UAA next fall.

Please join me in congratulating Ron on this well-deserved promotion.
