Cat Paw Nebula A new book, called "Far Out: A Space-Time Chronicle" written by Michael Benson, features deep-space images taken by Professor Travis Rector, interim director of UAA's new planetarium. Read the book review here, and visit the slideshow here. A review of the book was published in The New York Times on Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2010.

Rector, who is shaping the use and presentation of information at UAA's new planetarium, has an image of "the Cat's Paw Nebula" in the slide show at www.nytimes.com. It is described as "a star-formation region, with stars of close to 10 solar masses produced there in the past several million years. Its color is due to ionized hydrogen." There are 16 cosmos photos in the slideshow, representing images from the book.
