2010 Cabin Fever Debates continue with Rounds 5 and 6 on Feb. 16

Four rounds down and four to go until the semifinalists for Cabin Fever Debates are determined.

On Tuesday, Feb. 9, Rounds 3 and 4 of the competition were held. In Round 3, the team of "Team Slaymaker" Clayton Dale (sophomore, sociology) and Adriene Slaymaker (junior, philosophy) took first place, earning an automatic bid to the Semifinal Round on March 2. Joining Team Slaymaker in the Semifinal will be the winners of Round 4, "Dick Cheney is my Hero" Jason Cline (senior, economics) and Ryan Mckee (junior, political science).
 


The Seawolf Debate Team is proud to sponsor Rounds 5 and 6 on Feb. 16 at 7 and 8:30 p.m. in the Social Sciences Building, Room 118.

The first debate will address the motion "The U.S. should impose a sin tax on unhealthful foods." Defending the motion in the role of 1st Proposition will be the team "Magnanimity" of Allison Murrell (senior, philosophy) and Tracey Alexander (junior, political science). Closing the debate for the proposition will be team "Franny & Zooey" of Kelly Messick (sophomore, business management) and Quoc Duong (freshman, English). Opening the opposition debate will be "Team Doofkin" of Brittany Bennett (sophomore, chemistry) and Leland Miller (junior, chemistry). The 2nd Opposition team will be "Dasvidanya" of Jake Courreges (freshman, international studies) and Joseph Posey (junior, economics).
 


Round 6 will feature the teams of: 1st Proposition "Killer Bees" of Kyle Benson (junior anthropology) and Amy Ray (air traffic control); 1st Opposition "Singularity" of Victoria Yancey (freshman biology) and Ben Nilsson (sophomore, computer science); 2nd Proposition "Boats & Hose" of Alexa Buchl (freshman, undeclared) and Natalie Hurly (freshman, pre-nursing); and 2nd Opposition "Arbitrary" of Catherine Helle (sophomore, English) and Peter Finn (senior, economics). They will debate the motion "The U.S. should explicitly endorse the opposition movement in Iran" at 8:30 p.m.
