Fall in love on Valentine's Day--with the UAA Clarinet and Saxaphone Ensemble

by Kathleen McCoy  |

Sunday, Feb. 14, 4 p.m.
Fine Arts Building Recital Hall

This Valentine's Day concert marks the 6th season for the UAA Clarinet Ensemble, and the inaugural year for the Saxophones. Both ensembles are under the direction of UAA Music Professor, Dr. Mark Wolbers. The performance includes works by Genzmer, Jacob, Pierne, Uhl, Willis, Dubois and Desporte.

The Saxophone Ensemble consists of soprano, alto, tenor and baritone saxophones. This ensemble makes its debut this year with help from the College of Arts and Sciences. With the support of CAS, the Department of Music was able to invest in professional-level instruments to make this ensemble possible. The colors created by this combination of instruments are very rich and lush.

The Clarinet Ensemble is performing works for B-flat and bass clarinets. The clarinet ensemble has a notable history, having been the recipient of two undergraduate research grants and numerous awards. In their six-year history, they have presented nearly 100 concerts and school presentations.

Parking is convenient and free. Tickets are $18 general admission and $15 for seniors, students and military. Tickets are available at www.CenterTix.net or the UAA Fine Arts Box Office at (907) 786-4849.
