'Everybody Loves Whales' to shoot at UAA, parking impacted Nov. 19-30

Friday, Nov. 19-Tuesday, Nov. 30, all day
Professional Science Building, West and North Parking Lot
UAA is pleased to announce that our Anchorage campus will be used as a setting for
the feature film, "Everybody Loves Whales." Film crews will be on campus for several
days beginning Nov. 19, running through approximately Nov. 30. The majority of these
days will be used for equipment load-in and set construction, all of which will take
place on West Campus in the Professional Studies Building (PSB). The filming itself
will only take one day.
Parking and PSB access will be affected during this time. WEST LOT will be open for parking, though at least one full bay will be closed from approximately
Nov. 19 through Nov. 30 for production trailer and equipment parking. Additional bays
in UAA's NORTH PARKING LOT will be used for crew parking and trailer overflow. The total number of parking spots
impacted during this film shoot will be about 160; we have about 5,000 parking spots
on campus.
Students, faculty and staff who often use PSB will see little impact on the building
as a whole, with the majority of the activity taking place in the Journalism and Public
Communications' (JPC) TV studio. The building entrance nearest the JPC studio will be restricted to movie personnel
only. Please use one of the several other entrances to PSB during this time. Security
will be on site to limit access to shooting areas.
This is an exciting opportunity for UAA and our community to be part of this major
motion picture production. Watch for the transformed JPC studio on the big screen!
