Several organizations were successful in receiving America Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) Stimulus funds for Alaska broadband projects. These awards are administered by the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) and the Rural Utilities Service (RUS) in the Department of Agriculture.
Grantees have been invited to present a brief overview of their projects. There will also be time for questions and discussion. The entities that received funding for projects within Alaska were:
Broadband Technology Opportunities Program (NTIA):
- Alaska Department of Education & Early Development
- Connected Nation (Alaska)
- University of Alaska
Broadband Initiatives Program (RUS):
- Copper Valley Telephone Cooperative/Copper Valley Wireless
- Rivada Sea Lion LLC
- Supervision Inc.
- United Utilities Inc. (GCI)
We hope that this briefing will provide a forum to identify opportunities for collaboration on implementation and evaluation, to share information with potential participants and collaborators and to identify unmet needs and the next steps for broadband planning for Alaska.
