Facilities Maintenance/Operations establishes new guidelines for routine re-painting

by Kathleen McCoy  |

Effective Jan. 1, 2011, Facilities Maintenance/Operations Paint Shop will be changing the guideline for routine re-painting. When a Work Request is submitted, the site will be inspected by Building Maintenance staff of Facilities Maintenance/Operations and a decision will be made with the department whether the office needs to be re-painted. If a decision is made to paint an office, we will use the existing paint color.

Departmental requests for painting offices with additional colors or changes in color will be billable (UAA standard colors only). All painting will be done by Facilities and Campus Services, no painting by unauthorized personnel is allowed. The department responsible may be charged for re-painting. All office painting will be done on an as-needed basis. All common-area painting will be done every seven years, or as needed.

The Facilities Maintenance/Operations Paint Shop maintains the painted surfaces of all interior, exterior and public use areas throughout the campus and some remote sites. Continued growth of the University, budget constraints and the new long-lasting paint formulations now available have caused this change in our guidelines.
