Spring 2011: Apply for Gilman Scholarship of up to $5,000 to study abroad

by Kathleen McCoy  |

The Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program offers funding for students who have been traditionally underrepresented in study abroad. This year, the program will provide 2,300 awards of up to $5,000 for U.S. citizen undergraduate students at two and four-year institutions who are receiving a Pell Grant for the purposes of study abroad. Students who study critical needs languages in-country may be eligible for an additional amount of up to $3,000.

Participating in an international educational program during your undergraduate career can be a life-changing experience. Receiving a Gilman Scholarship and studying abroad will also make you a more competitive candidate for jobs, other scholarships and admission to graduate programs.
