Total Reclaim crew and UAA Recycling crew worked from about 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. collecting 29,114 pounds of electronics, batteries and other materials. That's Bynum Jackson, assistant sustainability director, with incoming UAA Chancellor Tom Casealmost 15 TONS! Total Reclaim did this event at no cost to the community. Just the cost of the recycling alone would have been $10,190, and that does not include the cost of labor to Total Reclaim for having their crew work that day.

Please join me in a big thank you to Total Reclaim for offering the opportunity to recycle electronics for free to the UAA community, ASD employees, students and family and Providence employees. This company provides a valuable service to Anchorage by ensuring that our electronics are responsibly disposed of.

Pictured at right is Bynum Jackson, assistant sustainability director, holding what was called "the oldest laptop ever made." Evidence? It still used a floppy disc drive! At left is Jackson with incoming UAA Chancellor Tom Case. To see more images of the day, visit the University of Alaska Facebook album.
