"The Flutists Strike Back: A Totally Awesome Mega-Sensory Journey through the 1980s" at 8:30 p.m. on Friday, May 13.  Flutists Laura Koenig and Jennifer Father turn back time with live performances and full-dome visuals at the UAA Planetarium. "The Flutists Strike Back" visually orchestrates flute works written in every year of the 1980s, and also pays tribute to the popular culture of the decade. Father and Koenig have incorporated feedback from the composers on how they "see" their music, and the imagery will be as diverse as the pieces. From "out there" contemporary sonorities to tonal but jazzy works, the evening will take the viewer through a journey of live music, planets and perms. Special guests will be Jean Lenoir and Corinne McVee.
