Shemekia Copeland to perform at UAA June 15
by Kathleen McCoy |
Shemekia Copeland is already a force to be reckoned with in the blues. She's opened
with Rolling Stones, headlined at the Chicago Blues Festival and numerous other festivals
around the world. She has shared the stage with such luminaries such as Buddy Guy,
B.B. King, Taj Mahal and John Mayer. Her father was the late Texas blue guitar legend
Johnny Clyde Copeland. Shemekia's second album, Wicked, in 2000, scored three Handy
Awards (Song of the Year, Blues Album of the Year, Contemporary Female Artist of the
Year) and a GRAMMY nomination. For more information about Shemekia Copeland, visit her website.
