Spring 2011: Donna Gail Shaw farewell event is May 23

After 26 years of service, Donna Gail Shaw will be retiring from UAA on June 30. Donna Gail came to UAA in 1985 as an assistant professor in the College of Education (COE). During her career, Donna Gail advanced through the ranks to full professor, and later served as COE's Associate Dean for Student and Curriculum Affairs and as Director of Office of Student Engagement. In 2009, Donna Gail also served as acting dean for COE for several months.

Donna Gail's strong leadership and commitment to student success has been recognized throughout her career. Most recently, she received the COE Core Value Leadership Award; Achieving Chapter Excellence Award, Rho Zeta Chapter, Kappa Delta Pi International Honor Society in Education; was part of the team that won a Chancellor's Award for Excellence: Large Team Collaboration; and had the UAA Donna Gail Shaw Education Excellence Scholarship named in her honor and endowed by the UAA Rho Zeta Chapter of Kappa Delta Pi.

Donna Gail's professional contributions to UAA, our students, and to the future of education in the state of Alaska are immeasurable. Please join us in thanking Donna Gail for her years of service at a going away party on May 23 at 3:00 p.m. in Library 307.
