Participants in science camp watch the testing phase of their The ExxonMobil Bernard Harris Science Camp continues at UAA through July 22. One exercise for campers was to create a swatch of space cloth by selecting and layering a variety of materials, then testing the swatch to see if it withstand piercing by a sharp object. This simulated a walk in space with debris striking the astronaut's space suit. About 50 middle school students from all around Alaska participated in the program. In the photo, they watch as a swatch encounters the sharp blade in their test phase.
