TONIGHT: Landscape design lecture by James Urban, Aug. 18

Acclaimed landscape architect and world-renowned speaker, James Urban, will give a free public lecture on design for trees, bringing to life his book, Up by Roots: Healthy Soils and Trees in the Built Environment. Urban will give attendees the basic tools they need to assess a site's soil quality and make recommendations for soil improvement if needed.

ISA credential holders will receive 1 ISA CEU credit for this educational lecture. The event is co-sponsored by UAA's Facilities and Campus Services, Alaska Division of Forestry Community Forestry Program and the Pacific-Northwest Chapter of the International Society of Arboriculture.

The University of Alaska Anchorage recently earned Tree Campus USA recognition for 2010 for its dedication to campus forestry management and environmental stewardship, by the nonprofit Arbor Day Foundation. This is the second year UAA has been named a Tree Campus USA.
