Attention all education majors--Have you started studying for your PRAXIS I? Remember
you have to have it before you can apply for the Department of Teaching and Learning.
If you are an education major and have completed approximately 20 to 30 credits, including
English 111 and Math 105, it's time to start thinking of registering for the PRAXIS
I test.
You must pass the Praxis I (all sections) before being admitted to the Department
of Teaching and Learning and taking your upper-division education classes. You need
to pass both PRAXIS I and II before you can start your internship. You also need to
have your scores sent to UAA and to the State of Alaska Department of Education and
Early Development to get your teaching license. So they are definitely important tests!
We can help you prepare for the test and provide you with some great free information.
Please come visit us at the College of Education's PRAXIS I Information Session on Tuesday, Nov. 8 at 11:30 a.m. in PSB 217 and Dec. 1 at 2 p.m. in PSB 216. Delaying the test may adversely affect admittance to the Department of Teaching and Learning and degree completion progress.
