CAFE: 'Effectively Teaching UAA's Military and Veteran Students,' Nov. 4

Please join CAFE for a resource panel and interactive discussion about military/veteran students at UAA, who make up a significant percentage of the student population. Mel Kalkowski, director of Military Programs, John Johnson, military and veteran community services assistant and Kaela Parks, director of Disability Support Services will be featured panelists. Topics addressed will include: demographics of the military student population, policies related to student deployment, learning challenges in the classroom, financial aid issues, combating stereotypes and resources available to support these students. In a related event, CAFE will be hosting a student panel Thursday, Nov. 10 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. is Rasmuson Hall, room 303.

Please join us for the student panel and interactive discussion with four military/veteran students at UAA regarding the resources available to support them. The students will address what faculty need to know to most effectively teach and reach military/veteran students at UAA.
