The Seawolf Debate Program is proud to host the inaugural Anchorage Middle School Public Debate Program Championship Tournament this Saturday, April 28 on the UAA campus. The Middle School Debate initiative, launched this year by the Seawolf Debate program, extends opportunities for academic debating to area middle school students.

Throughout the year, the Seawolves have hosted workshops for middle school teachers, done demonstration debates at area middle schools and worked directly with middle school students to help them prepare for the debates, all of which will culminate in Saturday's championship tournament. The inaugural championship will feature competition from all three pilot schools selected as partners for the initiative's launch: Begich Middle School, Clark Middle School and Mirror Lake Middle School.

The championship round will be held at 4 p.m. in Room 120 of the ConocoPhillips Integrated Science Building and is free and open to the public.
