Oral history gathering stories from the California LGBT communityThe Family is proud to present "On These Shoulders We Stand," a documentary about LGBT civil rights history before Stonewall. "On These Shoulders We Stand" provides a history of LGBT civil rights struggles on the west coast from the 1950s to the present. It is based on oral histories of elders who stood up against LGBT oppression, at great risk to their jobs, relationships and even their lives. There is no charge for admission, but donations will be cheerfully accepted. After the screening, Filmmaker/Oral Historian Glenne McElhinney will be available for Q-and-A, along with Alaska LGBT elders.

An ASL interpreter will be provided if requested by Monday, June 5, at 5 p.m. by calling (907) 786-1215 or emailing uaa_slldesk@uaa.alaska.edu.
