Justice Center faculty trains law enforcement personnel in crime scene forensics

by Ted Kincaid  |

Bear Necropsy ClassesJim Wolfe, adjunct professor for UAA's Justice Center, knows forensics inside and out. With a background working as a forensic scientist for the Alaska Scientific Crime Detection Laboratory, he is now in demand as a forensic consultant and trainer (in addition to teaching for UAA).

Recently Professor Wolfe spoke to more than 50 North American Wildlife Enforcement Officers Association game wardens at the 2012 Wildlife Field Forensics Symposium in Montana. He demonstrated photography and casting techniques for shoe and tire impression evidence and discussed field necropsy techniques (animal autopsies).

Professor Wolfe also presented an outdoor crime scene class at the Alaska Peace Officers Association Crime Conference in Juneau. Officers in attendance learned to document shoe print evidence in a demonstration by Professor Wolfe on a beach along Gastineau Channel.shoe print
